For the last 15 years I've been coding various high traffic websites. Most revolved around marketing and advertising and sharing content.
During the election of 2016 I started to get into politics. Trump was doing things that normal politicians didn't do, and I was interested in all the hoopla.
That's when things started to get crazy. Social media sites across the web started to censor people. Not the typical censorship where they delete illegal content, but censorship based on political views. It started to bug me.
It also bugged me that on most of the sites if you make any content, and post it, it's considered spam. Make a cool YouTube video? good for you! But don't share it with us... It just bugged me.
So I started coding a social sharing site that would be different.
Sitizens is a social sharing site where we are all citizens of the site, and get to vote on what content is shown or disappears into the corners.
If someone posts something that you don't like, you can vote it down. If everyone thinks it's terrible, we don't need a mod to delete it, it goes away on its own. And if everyone thinks its great but mods hate it, too bad, because the Sitizens have spoken.
Now the idea isn't to create a site where illegal or underground things are done. I think some sites have gone too far in allowing illegal content in the name of no censorship.
The general rule of thumb will be if it's legal it won't be deleted. The only exception is posting other people's personal info. No posting emails, phones, or physical addresses, etc.
As for spam, just don't be annoying. If you have a YouTube channel and want to post your videos in the appropriate topic, great! If you come here only to post affiliate links and never participate in convos, expect downvotes..
Anyways, that's why I started Sitizens. I don't claim to be anything special than a guy who likes to code cool sites and got tired of being told no you can't do that or think that.
